LEG 3 - FLEMINGTON RACE 5 #5 INTERPRETATION

He's a horse who just doesn't get warm until he gets out to a genuine staying trip, which he gets here fourth-up. He hasn't fired a shot in three starts this prep over the mile and 2000m, but now onto a big track and out to 2500m, he can run a cheeky race at big odds. He was one of the runs of the race in last year's Melbourne Cup (6th), and before that he won the Bendigo Cup, so he's classy enough.

LEG 11 - FLEMINGTON RACE 9 #13 SKYBIRD

She is a ripper this mare, and I expect the Flemington straight to be right up her alley. She tasted her first defeat at the end of her first prep in the Thousand Guineas when third behind Joliestar and Kimochi, and then returned in the autumn with a barnstorming win in the Tobin Bronze Stakes at Morphettville, before finishing less than 3L off the winner in the G1 Goodwood. She's in on the minimum and will be flying late.

LEG 2 - ROSEHILL RACE 5 #16 FAY’S ANGELS

She was a sneaky run first-up from 99-days between runs in black-type company. She went back from the middle draw and was all cluttered up without galloping room late, we can be forgiving of that beaten margin. She won second-up last preparation when up in trip and we can expect her to improve here. She’ll land closer to the lead speed and comes in well at the weights with only 53kg on her back with the claim.

LEG 9 - FLEMINGTON RACE 8 #7 ATISHU

She’s the big improver through the Winx Stakes. She was taken back from the double-figure draw but warmed up late in the worst part of the track to clock some of the best closing splits of the race. Won the Blamey over this track and trip second-up last preparation and can land closer to the lead speed from the better draw. Expect her to improve sharply.
