The final field and barriers have been locked in for Saturday’s Group 1 Moir Stakes.

Reacting to the draw, Gareth Hall has given his early thoughts on some of the winners and losers for the draw of the first G1 at The Valley for the season.

Emphasising the importance of the track pattern on the day, Hall says those drawn with lower gates would be better suited over the 1000m circuit.

“Depending how this track plays as this race has been under lights in recent years but last year Coolangatta kicked up from barrier one to scoot around The Valley to win a Moir,” Hall said.

1. I Wish I Win (5)

“I Wish I Win has got a handy enough draw from barrier five.

2. Mornington Glory (1)

“Mornington Glory should be box seating from gate number one.

3. Johnny Rocker (3)

“Johnny Rocker gets back in his races and he’s got a low gate.

4. Caballus (9)

“Cabballus has drawn awkwardly.

5. Chain Of Lightning (4)

“Chain Of Lighting should settle nice and close from that gate over the 1000m.

6. Estriella (8)

“Barrier eight hurts Estriella’s chances as she could be off the track over the 1000m trip albeit trialling nicely but it’ll be an interesting ride there for Blake Shinn.

7. Coleman (6)

“Bit of an awkward draw for Colman in six over the tricky Valley circuit.

8. Lady Of Camelot (2)

“Connections of Lady Of Camelot would be over the moon with that draw.

9. Hayasugi (7)

“The filly Hayasugi has got not a great draw in seven with speed underneath her.”
