GWS star Tom Green says he is none the wiser in regards to reports suggesting he is Tasmania’s No.1 target.

The Herald Sun recently reported that Green has emerged as the Devils’ primary target as the new franchise prepares to enter the AFL in 2028.

Giants midfielder Green, who is sidelined for the 2026 with an ACL injury, says he has not spoken to anyone involved with Tassie’s recruiting as of yet.

“The only person from Tasmania I’ve spoken to is Jacob Gaynor. I actually try to screen his calls when I can because he’s annoying,” Green joked on SEN Breakfast.

“That’s the thing, he’s actually their social media guy. He’s the one who has contacted me the most. He says that Tassie is all good fun but I actually haven’t spoken to anyone from Tasmania yet.”

Regarding the media reports, Green admits he is flattered but isn’t quite sure where it’s all come from.

“In regards to footy media, I do consume some,” he added.

“I actually like reading the paper as well. We don't get as much footy up here in the paper (in Sydney) but when we go down to Melbourne I don't mind reading the paper.

“Some of the social media stuff, I think there can be a little bit too much of that so I try and stay away from that.

“But seeing those sort of headlines, I mean they're really flattering for a start.

“I always find that weird. I’m never really sure being in Sydney sort of what the go is. Should someone have spoken to me or not?

“The main point I guess is that I find it really flattering, to feel wanted in that way does feel nice.

“But like I said I don't read too much into that, there's still a lot of time between now and when Tasmania are actually going to come into fruition.”

Green, 25, is contracted with the Giants until the end of 2027.

As a current player, Green was also quizzed on the highly publicised vision of North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson's fiery interaction with Colby McKercher last Friday.

He has no issue with it especially when it gets the desired result.

“I was watching this game live actually. I personally love it,” Green replied.

“You guys (Garry and Tim) would know as well, I think sometimes that's called for. It’s not like it was really disrespectful or over the top or anything like that.

“We’re playing a high-intensity, full-on game and you need to make demands.

“Sometimes you need to be a little bit pointy to get your point across. Particularly if you’ve got that relationship which I heard Colby McKercher speak about post-game with Alastair Clarkson that they do.

“I think that was completely play on and it ended up getting the result. North Melbourne came from behind and got the result and I thought McKercher was fantastic.

“When you can make a demand like that and you get the exact response the coach is looking for, I think it’s fantastic to be honest.”
