Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy insists the club remains united and focused on this Friday's Queensland derby despite the noise around Ben Te'o's shock resignation.
According to reports, Te'o and Maguire were involved in a heated verbal altercation in the days leading up to the Broncos' upset victory over the Storm last week.
Broncos' insiders tried to negotiate the peace between the two, holding talks between Maguire and Te'o, but to no avail.
Donaghy spoke to SENQ Breakfast this morning to address some of the conjecture and speculation around the club which has ridden a rollercoaster in recent months.
Asked why some of the Broncos players said they heard about Te'o's departure via social media, Donaghy was mystified about where the leak was.
"From some of the conversations I have had, things moved quite quickly," he told Corey Parker and Ian Healy. "We like to deal with these matters internally, but these things get out.
"It’s one of those mysteries. The full team was briefed yesterday, the timing of it I am not sure as to when. Certainly the whole team was briefed and was clear and what had taken place and how the rest of the week would look.
"Without getting specific, the first conversation I had around this was on Monday. I had heard there were challenges and that was from Ben. That conversation will stay private.
"It was certainly a surprise and then he tendered his resignation. Ben is an adult, he is a very good coach, he is clear on his decision and we respect that and we move on.
"We have a game to prep for on Friday night and we focus on that. Madge s supported by the other coaches. In due course, we will move quickly to fill that void.
"A lot of people are joining dots that aren’t there. All I can say is what I know. I am being transparent. It is what it is and its happened."
Te'o and Maguire had a long history of working together, dating back to winning a premiership together as player and coach at the Rabbitohs in 2014.
The argument between Te'o and Maguire reportedly surrounded differences over defence tactics in the lead-up to the match against the Storm.
Te'o was an integral part of the Broncos' premiership win last season, leading their defence.
The former Bronco was initially brought back to the club by former coach Kevin Walters just days before Walters was removed from his position, with Maguire taking over and keeping Te'o on.
The development comes as the club has been wrapped up in a high-profile dispute with former captain Gorden Tallis, escalating to the point the club removed his name from a meeting room named in his honour.
