Sydney Swans midfielder Taylor Adams has been released from hospital after being knocked unconscious in an alleged bar fight in Sydney.
According to NSW police, the 32-year-old was caught in an alleged altercation with two men outside a Sydney venue at approximately 10:10pm on Saturday night, where Adams was allegedly assaulted.
The report states that Adams was struck in the face, being knocked to the ground and allegedly losing consciousness. Adams also suffered a minor cut on his cheek.
The Sydney Swans released the following statement on Sunday morning:
“Sydney Swans player Taylor Adams was the victim of an incident across the road from an Eastern Suburbs establishment last night.
“Adams was taken to hospital after the incident for further assessment. He was released from hospital at 7am Sunday morning and will be monitored on a daily basis.
“The Sydney Swans does not tolerate violence in any form and is working with Adams and NSW police to identify the offender.”
Sydney head coach Dean Cox provided an update on Tuesday.
"Yeah, Taylor's fine," Cox said.
"He's obviously been taken to hospital, released early Sunday morning, spoke to him Sunday.
"He was out the front trying to go home. Now it's a matter of dealing with the NSW Police, and Taylor going through that process as well.
"We make sure that everything's good at home, everything's fine with Ellie (Adams' wife), and provide as much as we possibly can.
"We touch on that every year (with the players), about making sure we understand the role we have in the community, who we represent.
"But then on top of that as well, just to be careful no matter where you are.
"The scenarios that you might face, players are all aware of, and hopefully you make the right decision at the right time."
Adams posted to his Instagram, stating: "To everyone that has sent their love, thank you. I am doing okay.
"This is now a police matter, and I won't be commenting further."
