Adelaide key forward Darcy Fogarty has opened up on his sides disappointing end to the 2025 season.
The Crows finished the home and away season on top of the ladder with 18 wins and five losses, however lost in straight sets to both Collingwood and Hawthorn in the finals.
The prominent goalkicker admitted that despite those losses hurting, the playing group is now using the elimination as fuel to perform even better this season.
“The straight set (losses) obviously hurts,” Fogarty told The Captain’s Run.
“That's something that we obviously are driven by, and that's something that we don't want to happen again.
“But then again, we got to experience finals as well, and I think something like 90% of the list hadn't played finals.
“So, we all have (played finals) now, and we all recognised that's what you do all your training for. I think that's a big driving force as well.
“(We want to) redeem ourselves from the straight sets, we know we're better than that, and we want to play at that end of the year.”
However, it isn’t all doom and gloom for the Crows.
When looking at the overall season, winning the minor premiership is still an incredible feat – something which Fogarty and the playing group have recognised.
If Adelaide can evolve their form from last season, then the Crow is confident that they will be even better in 2025.
“We've recognised that we did a lot right to get ourselves in the position we did, and unfortunately, we just didn't execute in the final two games,” the key-forward said.
“We've looked at both sides - we've looked at positives and realised that we did a lot right to get ourselves in a great position, and we’ve got to learn, adapt and evolve.
“Next time we'll make sure that we're better off for what happened last year.
“We're going to learn from it and not just dwell on it.”
Adelaide are currently $12 with Sportsbet to win the flag in 2026.
