The Sydney Roosters have been fined by the NRL over salary cap breaches.

Meanwhile, the Melbourne Storm have been sanctioned over two separate failures to follow correct team selection protocols.

The NRL salary cap auditor found the Roosters were $38,365 over the Supplementary List and Training Wage Salary Cap back in 2024.

The club has been fined $36,070, reflecting the amount they were over, thought the fines acknowledge the breach is at the lower end of the scale.

The Storm have been fined $25,000, half of which is suspended for two years, for “not following proper process around team selections” on two occasions in 2025.

The fines relate to a player who was selected while on a training contract.

Storm’ forward Shawn Blore was also issued a breach notice “alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following an NRL Integrity Unit investigation after the finalisation of court proceedings.”

Blore pleaded guilty to common assault back in July 2024 after an incident in a restaurant, and received a six-month good behaviour bond, with no conviction.

Given the holiday period, Blore, the Storm and the Roosters will have an extended period to respond to the breach notices.
