North Melbourne captain Jy Simpkin is believed to be exploring his options, with reports suggesting the 27-year-old could be seeking a potential trade.
As reported by 7News reporter Mitch Cleary, the Kangaroos’ captain has dealt with immense frustration over his role at the club, pushed outside of his team’s starting midfield mix and utilised on the outer wings and even across the half forward line.
According to Cleary, Simpkin’s management has commenced communications with rival clubs over a potential trade deal, gauging interest from around the competition.
At 27 years of age and with four years remaining on his deal at Arden Street, it is yet to be reported as to whether any clubs are willing to make a move for the Kangaroo.
In 2025, Simpkin averaged 22 disposals and four clearances a game, finishing fifth in his side’s best and fairest count.
Simpkin becomes the third club captain in 2025 behind Oscar Allen and Zach Merrett to explore a move to a rival.
