Hawthorn legend Dermott Brereton was left “bitterly disappointed” with the performance from Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in Friday night’s Elimination Final.

The star forward, like a number of his Western Bulldogs teammates, had a poor game against the firing Hawks in front of 97,828 fans.

The 22-year-old finished the clash with four touches, two marks, one tackle and no goals.

It was his worst performance for the year and it came in their biggest game of the year and it left Brereton frustrated given Ugle-Hagan’s ability.

“I know he’s got some mates, but I was so disappointed with Jamarra,” Brereton told SEN’s Crunch Time.

“In his own head, he came off the boil last night, he failed the moment last night and so much so that in the last quarter there was a two vs two and he ran forward of the pack under the drop of the ball and he tried to crumb the ball like a five foot nine player and I thought ‘that’s a man that doesn’t want to go for the ball' because he’s got a fear of failure.

“He failed the moment on the big stage in a final, I was bitterly disappointed.

“There were times where he had the drop on his opponents, and he just didn’t stick the knee in them and rise above them and take the mark.

“He took two marks.”
