Sam Edmund has provided an injury update on star Hawk Will Day.

The gun midfielder missed Friday night’s Elimination Final due to a shoulder injury he copped in Round 23.

Edmund expects the Hawks to make a call early in the week but it would appear unlikely that Day would make the trip to Adelaide for their final against Port Adelaide on Friday night.

“Hawthorn will train and have a recovery session on Sunday, I think ‘hopeful’ is the word Hawthorn is using,” Edmund told SEN’s Crunch Time.

“Recovery tomorrow, train Monday, Tuesday off, Wednesday is main training and they’ll make a call I’m told very early in the week like they did for the Elimination Final to not let the distraction fester.

“I think it’s unlikely, this obviously the complex sternoclavicular dislocation that Peter Evritt had back in the day that kept him out of a Qualifying Final to a Grand Final over the space of three weeks.

“He would appear to be up against it but he’ll be tested and they’ll make the call really early.”
