Essendon veteran Todd Goldstein wants to play on in 2025, reports Seven’s Mitch Cleary.

Goldstein joined the Bombers last off-season after 315 games for North Melbourne and played 14 games in his first campaign in red and black.

While Goldstein wants to play on, at age 36, the club are yet to commit to him for 2025.

Even though he’ll likely be behind both Sam Draper and Nick Bryan in the club’s ruck pecking order next season, Cleary says that there have already been talks about him signing on for one final season.

If he doesn’t sign on as a player, Cleary still expects the 2015 All-Australian to remain at The Hangar in a different role.

“He is open to playing on,” Cleary told SEN Breakfast.

“Right now the Bombers have got Nick Bryan and Sam Draper as the one-two punch they saw in the last month of the season, but Goldstein is open to playing on.

“I think there's been some early talks around extending him for one more season.

“They've also got Dante Visentini’s younger brother Vigo sort of waiting in the wings as an up-and-coming ruckman at the Bombers.

“But I think regardless, Goldstein will be there in some sort of assistant coaching role if he doesn't get that contract, but he does want to play.”

Essendon held an 8-1-5 record with Goldstein in the team in 2024.
