World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was led away by police in handcuffs prior to his second round in the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course.

This year’s Masters winner is understood to have been involved in a traffic mix-up and spent time in the back of a police car.

Vision at the scene saw police say Scheffler was going to jail.

The event occurred after a shuttle bus struck and killed a pedestrian outside Valhalla Golf Club, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department has since confirmed.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington witnessed the incident.

“World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler has been detained by police in handcuffs after a misunderstanding with traffic flow led to his attempt to drive past a police officer into Valhalla Golf Club,” Darlington posted to X

"The police officer attempted to attach himself to Scheffler’s car, and Scheffler then stopped his vehicle at the entrance to Valhalla. The police officer then began to scream at Scheffler to get out of the car.

“When Scheffler exited the vehicle, the officer shoved Scheffler against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs. He is now being detained in the back of a police car.”

Darlington, via ESPN, added: “He looked towards me as he was in those handcuffs and said, 'please help me'. He very clearly did not know what was happening in the situation. It moved very quickly, very rapidly and very aggressively.”

Scheffler, 27, had shot four-under on Thursday to finish the first round T12.

Tee times on Friday in Kentucky have been pushed back an indefinite amount.

More to come.
